ive been looking for a wide front for my super h and found one on craigs list. the guy said it fit both the h and m. i thought that the two were not interchangeable. to my knowledge the h 300 and 350 would interchange and the m 400 450 interchanged. the guy says it fits both but i dont want to drive the 300 mile round trip to go look . it was originaly on an m. can anyone set me straight on this

The bolt pattern is different. I have been told that they can be modified to fit but I have not seen it done personally.

A wide front off a 400 can be modified to fit a 300 I know for sure. The holes in the steering knuckle usually have enough clearance in them the they will bolt up; if not they can easily be enlarged a little and it will not hurt anything. The main mounting cradle is that same between them all (H, SH, 300, 350, M, SM, 400, 450). The rear support cradle however, is 2" taller and 2" wider for the M, SM, 400, and 450 tractors. Again, it can be cut down, and new holes drilled to bolt up the the smaller framed H, SH, 300, 350. When doing this though, the front end will sit 2" taller than normal. May or may not be abig deal to you and will also depend some on your front and rear tire sizes.

Pictured is my old 300 with a wide front off an M I modified to fit. As you can it sits a little high in the front. However, it did have 6.50-16 on the front and only 11.2x38 in the rear. That three-point on the back also squated the back end a bit more.

If its the wide front with tie rods in front of the axle. Arm that bolts to the tractor steering shaft is different and the steel plate is different. Some parts are different from early to later tractors with that wide front also.
If wanting the IH wide front with tie rods to rear of the axle. Spindles and bearings are a different size, but the only parts that keep the whole assembly with hubs from interchanging is the steering arm and the rear wish bone support that bolts to the frame rails.

Depending what style is is, Yes the M uses a slightly larger bolt pattern on both the mounting and the steering arm. So to put it on an H you simply slot out the holes. But I'd be wanting to buy it cheap or keep looking. You can't drive 300 miles for nothing either.
