Sandy MacKay re Hugh's 3pt hitch plans

I was not able to get Hugh's plans before he passed away but would really like to build a hitch now.

If you see this message, I'd appreciate a chance to talk with you about obtaining a set.

If other forum members know Sandy, I'd appreciate your help in letting him know of this inquiry.

If all else fails, I'd be happy to make a donation to the MacKay family's charity of preference in Hugh's memory. We had exchanged emails several times and I wish he were still here to discuss cultivation strategies, because he had a lot of experience by which to evaluate new ideas for new circumstances.

I read this forum every day and seldom does a day pass that I dont catch myself thinking "Hugh would have something to say about that".

Ah yes but there are several good folks here still and a lot of knowledge being shared. We never get back the old ones and it always seems like such a waste that their wealth of experience dies with them. Hope you are well and weathering the winter OK, Rick. Not going to make it to your RPRU this year. Did a mapquest and could not believe how long a drive it was.

As I recall, Hugh did post some pictures of his hitch. I also think there was a drawing or two. Everything should be in the archives. Let your fingers do the walking. I would start by searching on "Hugh MacKay" in the photo archives. If that doesn't work, you will have to use the message archives. Might start with "Hugh 3" or something similar.

You could also go to the Worksaver site and see drawings. However, I don't think Hugh did that. His design was different and probably for a good reason.

I like building hitches too but only for the larger tractors. I tend to modify IH hitch parts from other models and make the brackets to attach them.

Dave, I'm going to be out in your area with the pickup and gooseneckn delivering a new McCormick sometime in the near future. Hope all is well with you as well.

Thanks for the link: that one I hadn't found again.

I had found this one:

The two threads seem to me to present VERY different hitches: what is the relationship between what is shown in the two links??? Now I'm really confused!

I have not found a drawing, but will keep searching.

Thanks to all for the help so far.

Can't complain. Just wrapped up a Cub project tractor and battening down everything so I can make some money over the next couple of months. Got your mower on the MTA and not taking it off anymore. Made some room in with the hay where there is enough clearance and keeping the two together year around now. Nice mower but it is hard to take off and put on so I like this arrangement. Looking for some cultivators for a SAV right now. :)

Mark, I am the person that started last Saturday's thread. I sent you an email on this subject. I only hope that someone puts you in contact with Sandy and you can purchase a set from her.

As you noted, there are differences between Hugh's earlier photos and the one I posted. I had to make several changes of the plans to fit the vintage tractor I was modifying.
