Farmall H's -n- Hitachi Alts -n- Radio Shack diodes

I picked up my radio shack #276-1143 diode. How is it connected?, soldered then heat shrinked to the alternator wire?

The white colored band goes towards the alternator's "excite" terminal. I solder them in place, good crimp connectors would work, as well. I us a couple of layers of heatshrink to stiffen it up and reduce flexing which would break the diode's leads.

i have put a few of those in and i always put a needle nose vice grip on the diode wire just out side the diode itself- that will absorb the heat so it doesnt get to the diode itself-- and always get it done as fast as possible-- good luck!!

Alternator installed using a converstion bracket & diode and fusable link installed.
