Torque specs Farmall Super A front cover

I've just replaced the front main oil seal on my Farmall Super A. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to torque the front cover bolts to? I'd hate to get it all back together and have an oil leak.

"Back in the day" when manuals were written for the older stuff they didn't bother with torque values for all but the most critical parts.

IIRC, 5/16"NC bolts and a cork gasket, right?

Pre-metric automatic transmission pans are about the same setup... sheetmetal pan, 5/16" bolts and a cork gasket and a typical torque is 10 to 13 Ft/lbs..

That should be about as good a GUESS as any!

Forget the torque. Make them "snug" to avoid compressing the gasket too much.

Be especially careful around the seal. You can easily pull the threads out of the aluminum.
