Hi Guys , took my head in for a valve job and discovered it is cracked . I have purchased another head and am in the process of rebuilding it . I was going to scrap the cracked head but thought I should ask if there is any reason I shouldn"t ? I know they dont make anymore and it could be welded . Any comments ? thanks Larry

Depending on the size and placement of the crack, they can stitch it. I had a head stitched in 3 places several years ago and it hasen't givin any trouble.

I would take it to a reliable experienced welder and have him magniflux it and check for all the hidden cracks as well. I took one off an M in for one crack and we found 3 more right through the spark plug holes. He ground it out, welded it, re=machined it and when I got it back and after I painted it, you could never tell it was cracked. That was about 1962. And I was out at Estancia the other day and the fellow that bought it from dad was in his field on it disking away. So if you fix them right they will last as long as a new one. LarryT
