h leaking gas around the cap

i have a farmall h and it leaks gas out from around the cap i was wondering if there is a way ti fix this?

Replace the gasket on the gas cap.

Is it leaking out of the cap gasket or thru the vent hole? Is the cap tall or short?

They would leak from the vent hole when new. That's why IH eventually came out with the gas cap replacement program.

may need to reform the gas tank neck

There are free baffled caps available to replace the old short caps. Look in the farmall archives for the application process. If the tank opening lips are bent, it will need to be reformed See the tool mentioned below. The tool may also be found in the archives. Jim

I had that problem and sent for the new one and haven't had a problem since. If its not in th e archives try google.

Just go to a local auto parts store (or farm supply store) and buy some gasket material. Then cut one to same size/shape as the old gasket and install on cap. Worked for me.
Or CASEIH will send you a free one.
Out of curiosity I have to ask....is this your first tractor? Or only tractor?
