Another Farmall A question

I know this board has tried to help me before on this question if I could mount a belly mower on my A.
Do I have to have the right angle PTO to run the belt pulleys or can they be run from the straight pto shaft? Can the right angle pto be added to this tractor? It does not have one. Thank you all for your patience.

You really need the pulley option to run the belly mower. It approximately doubles your PTO speed and will allow the belly mower to do a smoother job. Can it be added?? I would say yes, if you can find one.

Thank you testanley, I'm on the search for one, got to be careful though to get something that will work with what I got. No sense in buying a part or mower if I can't run it.

The mount for the belley mower on that tractor is a pretty large and heavy. What kind of a mower are you wanting. Im talking about the three spindle types. The one blade 42 in type is different. When you buy the mower make sure its for the A,SA or mounting will be a mess too many buy a mower deck then find out i can put it on my tractor when the seller said no problem. If you mow a bunch and looking long time use get a new WOODS.

I have one of those side pto,s that you need but you will also need a gear on the back of yours to drive it and they are harder to get because they are hard to get off and so are usually left on the tractor. That pto should be the same as the 140s or even the C and super C tractors. Most scrap yards should have them. Hope that helps Erik..

That loooks like an early A. It is different from a late A, Super A or 1xx. A later pulley attachment can not be put on that PTO.

Jim,The more I look at my pto & what the other
pto's photos look like I really don't see it
either.
So the early 39's must have had a different pto
that had less options for equipment.
(Serial number is on a plate just below the brakes
& clutch on the front of the foot platform.
It says Model A - serial # FAA 4618)
That's OK, I still like my old tractor!

I have an extra complete right angle PTO unit and a 59 inch woods belly mower with all the mounting hardware,,It came off of a super A.. send me an email..

Jim, My serial # is FAA 4618. It is a 1939. So it
will not accept the later PTO for the belly mower
attachment? If this is true it will save me getting
parts that will not work on it. I'll just keep it &
use the sickel mower like it was designed for.
Thanks for the help.

The whole story of which parts will mix and match is complicated. From your picture, it appears that you already have a later PTO on your tractor. Check the part number on your main PTO drive housing. You should find it cast into the part. The early one is 6615D, the later 9091DC. If you have the later part number, a belt pulley attachment from a later A, Super A etc. will fit onto your PTO. If you have the early part number, a belt pulley from an early A is required.

If you find an entire PTO and belt pulley attachment that is the opposite of what you have, you can install the whole thing by using some of your existing unit. The one thing you can't do is cross a belt pulley attachment onto the wrong version of a PTO. That is why you need to be sure which PTO you have.

Jim, Have a number for you off off the PTO. It is
9092-D. Here are a few pictures, sure is confusing
but allot of help here if I can provide the right
information so you all can answer.
Thank you

9092-D is the number of the cover. I am not sure if it could be another mix and match part or not. You need to get the number off the part in front of that one. It should be one of the 2 numbers I posted earlier.

I found another it looks like a 9091 DA?

It's off of the bottom portion of PTO.

I feel more stupid each time I ask a question, sorry.
