With the grease fitting on a graphite throw-out bearing and no visible place for the grease to go, and a couple of shots of grease every so often, where does it go?

The grease goes on the pilot shaft (the tube that the TO bearing slides back and forth on. (I do not believe there can be grease moving through solid graphite. Some might get spread onto the front of the bearing if greased to excess, but graphite in non porus in the form it takes in this bearing. Jim

If you don't grease it and don't get it adjusted right, They wont last very long. They whear out fast. oldiron29

The Cub throwout bearing does not ride on a pilot tube. The grease goes into a space at the back side of the graphite bearing. Oil that separates from the grease does soak through the bearing. The soap from the grease escapes through a relief hole on the opposite side of the bearing from the fitting.
