Front Blade for a Super C

I am thinking about trying to find an IH blade for my Super C. Any one push much snow with a Super C? My neighbor has a blade for his Super A and it does real well. I see a lot of IH Super A blades for sale, but not many for a Super C.

C,Amick, I have both super A (9.5x24) rears and super C with front snow plows. I like the C-172 I have a tricycle front and can spin around easy. Also with the 36" loaded rear tires and 2 set of weigts on the SC I can push more than the super A, but the A will push some snow. There at my son's place in Vermont and they do get some snow. Both good for keepen drive way open.

I push our 400 yard drive off every winter with my C with a C-172 up front and a Saginaw 3 point out back with a 6" blade in back. It gives me both weight and capability to scrape hard if needed. I like the front blade but wish it had power angle like a pickup did. I run without chains until I can no longer push effectively or if ice becomes heavy. Then put the chains on. It is a snow machine. The snow gets so deep here in NE Iowa the last couple years a blower would be nice to get it away, but I manage with the blade nicely. 6 volt system and it starts like a charm even at -15F. I don"t run that well at those temps, but the tractor does. Just remember to check that air cleaner cup for water. Once I had some water in there and the engine kept dying because the ice block blocked all the air to the carb. Took me a bit to find that.

Where in NE IA are you? I am in Oelwein. Wish I could find dad's old . He had one of the first ones around, and I realy liked that tractor. They will do a lot of work for their size.

Here is a picture I found of my C and snow plow.

I have a homemade 3-point hitch, so I could add a blade back there as well. It would also add weight. I have one set of weights on the rear and I think I have a set of chains somewhere. The C-172 blade can also be mounted under the belly of the tractor for grading, right? My wife and I are in the process of buying some property and building a house. The driveway is going to be about 1,000ft. long!

Yes, you can belly mount the blade too. I never have used mine this way. But have seen guys at tractor pulls use them to clean the track. They work well.

I should do a double stop when I do come out. I should take a long weekend ans stop by GeneB's place then head up to see you!
I should send Gene some Governor housing's and when they are done head that way. We could use a long weekend out of town!

Used to go to some of the "sock hops" that KOEL put on in the NG armory.
I'm originally from 20 miles east of you. Miss a lot of things about the area, but not that much snow. Lived on a farm just NW of Backbone St. Pk.

I push a lot of snow with a 200. Only time it is any problem is when we get snow and it blows so it gets hard. I have one set of weights and a rear blade. On the front I have a loader with a blade. I took the regular blade off and mounted a combine tire I cut in half. It works great. You don"t need to worry about hitting something and breaking anything. It also high and concave so it works like a scoop and holds a lot of snow. Before I had the loader I had an old straight arm loader frame mounted to the rear axle and used 2 cables and pulleys run off the touch control.

Yea sounds good, GeneB and I are less than a couple hours apart. I need to go see him some time too. He was at my place in Illinois. Would like to visit him.

Needing to do a bunch of blasting this summer on a couple tractors I am working on. Should restock my supply. Maybe I need to come visit you and bring the dually again....

Have had a Super C with factory wide front and has had a front blade on it for years. This tractor and blade has moved a lot of snow without any trouble. Usually added 350-400# on the rear and chains but it worked great. We would still be using it but have other options now and a shorter driveway. A SC with a front blade is a good outfit.
