My 856 has the larger lights on the side of the fuel tank and single light fenders is this the way they came ? The one I had back 25 years ago and all the others I ve noticed had dual lights in the fenders should it have lights in the fenders also or just the ones on the fuel tank ? Right no it doesnt have any lights in the fenders and the others dont work so I m kind of starting from scratch anyway.

the fenders are from a 66 series tractor(966,1066,etc)It may have had "clamshell"fenders(very rare) when new.

I wondered about whether it could have had clam shell fenders or maybe some type of cab on it.Would it be best to do away with the lights on the fuel tank and get the 2 light fenders ? I will probably be getting new fenders for it anyway when it comes time to paint it.

I got to thinking,I'll bet it had an "icecream box" cab on it(that makes more sence). As far as the lights and fenders,I would just put lights in the fenders and not worry.I am more concerned with funtionality than originality, plus you have the cost of new fenders to consider.

Your 856 did not come with fenders from the factory. The fenders were added at a later time.

Odds are the fenders are take-offs from a '66 series tractor. The local dealer liked to put Hiniker cabs on new '66 series tractors, and I bet he wasn't the only dealer that did that.
