Anybody Know The Make and Model of this Field Cultivator?

The John Deere people said to post this here (1st post lost picture).

are there any markings or numbers anywhere on it? I have not seen one like that before, but I am not an expert in implements (far from it).

Take a close look at anyting that is cast, on the hubs, etc. IHC was notorious for putting their mark on things......if it is a IHC, there should be a logo somewhere. if ther is not, I would lean towards it not being IH.

We had one exactly like it, only half as wide, that I used for years to clean the lanes between sweet corn sets.

I think if you look close at the hubs or the back rail you will find your answer. It's seems like it is a McCormick but can't say for sure.

We farmed with these until the No 10 heavy duty came out. These no 8's came in 7,8,10,12,14 and 16 foot models. The 14 and 16 were duplex models; in about 1959 my dad took a 16' split it and put a 7' section in the middle, cut off the spindles and rewelded automotive spindles and put it on rubber, then pulled his first 23' cultivator with a 660. I think they were properly called a duckfoot cultivator.

looks like a slightly newer IH one we have on rubber with hydraulic lift. No idea what model ours is either.

take a wire brush hand held or electric etc and start ligtly brushing the hub area on inside and out if there is a cast logo there it should show up also if there is a part number there it may help

when i bought my plow i could faintly see markings in hub when i run the brush over the area a bit it really showed up kinda neat trick

Hi Jim,
I would be interested in the pressure springs and the top and bottom spring holders i.e. the cast part on the top and the wire on the bottom that the springs push against. Also possibly any of the other springs on the unit. Let me know what you have.

Thanks
