Clutch assist cylinder-1066 question

Hello, for the last few years I have had problems with the
clutch assist cylinder leaking on my grandfathers IH1066. It
never leaked from the time that it was new up until about 3
years ago. It has been rebuilt twice which both times
temporarily solved the problem, but now it is leaking again. I
have looked for new replacements but have not found any.
Does anyone know of where I could find a NEW replacement
assist cylinder or could anyone offer some advice on how I
could improve the outcome of another rebuild?
Thanks, Steven

Well when i did them i would always run a brake cylinder hone thru the bore to clean it up and try and clean up any defects . now if the housing is really bad then i would take it down to my machinist and he would bore it out and press in a repair sleeve and hone it to the org. bore . With out seeing what is the cond. of yours i can only tell you what i did to fix them and it worked for me .

Smith tire and tractor repair should have one. He sells new, used, aftermarket IH tractor parts and runs a IH salvage yard. He is located in Mayfield, KY. 270-247-2219. He ships nation wide. Ask for Steve Smith. I have bought a lot of parts from him over the last twenty five years.

If you get the parts (mostly o-rings) be sure to specify reputable Class 6 rubber o-rings, some of these fit-all assortments are soft poor grade & dont last.
