have run across it before but not right off hand. but if in dought doing a valve job just replace the seats for the little extra that it costs.no sense having them recessed to far.then you will or should have proper spring pressure without having to use the spacers. springs will be checked anyhow.i will see if i can find the installed hieght.
 
After checking it closer I found seats that need replacing . 2 different guys gave 2 different specs so I thought I would check here.
 
The D-282 engine will start good if the valves are set flush with the head. I have done this many times and it works for me. There is a spec and I would have to go out to the shop and find it. good luck

.003 to .046. The closer to .003 you can get them the better for starting.
 
That is below the head surface which is good. One guy I asked said they should be above the surface that much. That is why I asked here Thanks.
