i have a 4.5 inch angle grinder and want to use a cup style wire brush with the twisted wires, the only thing is the only cupped brushes i see for sale are the kind with the threaded centers, my angle grinder is set up for the hole type attachments, the ones without the threads, is there an adaptor for this, it's a porta cable 4.5 angle grinder. or are there cupped wire brushes without the threaded center mounts....

How do the grinding discs stay on normally?

Assuming the center post has external thread (most common) you should be able to remove the backing disc and thread on the wire brush.

I do this with mine all the time. Just have to use an open-end wrench to secure the brush to the grinder instead of the spanner wrench for grinding discs.

The nut holding the wheel on, probably a 10MM (about3/8). It could be fine or coarse thread. Mahita makes an adaptor from either thread to 5/8-16, which the cup wheels are.

All my angle grinders will accept both types of attachments, threaded, and 7/8" hole.

Converting is easy. Simply unthread the nut clamping the 7/8" hole disk. Remove the disk, then remove the backer plate underneath. Thread the threded disk/brush directly on to the grinder.
