Got a Case/IH 1896 with the powershift. Even at 35-40 degrees out, the thing has to run for about 30 minutes (and the coolant heater plugged in through the night before) before the hydraulics function worth a darn. All of it is electronic, so of course, when it finally has enough of the cold oil, it sounds an alarm and locks out your remotes, locking my loader in place. Sometimes you can idle it down, cycle the clutch several times and get it back, other times you have to shut it off and start it back. This will happen two or three times if you don't give it that half hour wait. What the heck? I understand 10 degrees, but 40?? What can I do?

get rid of it!go bach to an

M and F-11 Farmhand. All your troubles be over!..seriously,Ithink all new tractors are that way(idiotproof).A local airport bought a new JD to plow snow.to much stop and go make the sensers think the clutch is hot and kills the engine(in the middle of the runway!)it has to cool some before it will restart....just makes the older ones a lot more desirable!(The workers wanted thier "old"Hydro 100 back, but it was already sold!)

I would look at the hydo oil it may be a little foamy and need to be changed and the filter but the starter could need to be rebuilt the starter may be going bad

Would you happen to know if the JD has an electromechanical control (i.e., the sensor cuts off the ignition directly or through a relay) or computer control (where the sensor reports to a computer, which then cuts off the ignition)?

Either way, it sounds like the design engineer outsmarted himself.
