Just split my 300U to fix an oil leak and about to hang the pressure plate, thought I might best check the adjustment on the press plt, well, one finger is 1/8th" proud of the other two. Measuring from the front face to top of the finger is 2&7/8", the other two are 2&3/4". I have a IT book so I think I measured it right, the book said 2&7/32". Big difference. I didn't see any markings on the pressure plt as to make or anything. I got the tractor like it was so I figured the clutch was gummed up anyhow. It would engage w/o grinding if you held it in about 30 sec or so. Got a new clutch plate, the old pressure plate looked good, actually the old clutch had almost no wear on the lining, just gummed up.
If anyone has dealt with these before I could use some ideas.

I believe the highest priority is to determine if the Pressure plate is worn in the pivots for the levers and plate bosses. The fact that a lever screw is tall might be because the pivot is worn.
Place the driven disk in the FW and put on the Pressure plate. Use the clutch shaft to make sure the disk is centered (carefully center the shaft as it gets tight enough to just hold the disk pinched).
now take down the P Plate bolts about one turn each until tight.
The clutch is now pressing on the disk, and the fingers will have no pressure on them. Firmly wiggle each lever in and out as though you were the Throwout bearing. There should be just a little play, a few thousandths at best. If more, or radically different from one to the next, you have a worn plate that will not be satisfactory in use. Carefully measure the distance to the Driven disk surface while pressing the finger toward it. They should be all the same number, (It will not be a known number as the FW and new disk, and PP are all changed from original. But the screws should all be of equal height.

I hope this helps. Jim
