1066 crankshaft balancer question

My friend just installed a take out engine in his 1066 (dt-414). After running this engine it was noted that the front main seal was leaking so he pulled the balancer to replace the seal. He ruined the balancer during removal so he ordered a new one from CIH. My question is, the brand new balancer matches the one on the original engine but it is not as thick as the balancer on the take out engine. Which one should he use?? I say use the new one from CIH. You guys thoughts or insite? Thanks.

The thicker one is probably a viscus fluid type while the original on the tractor was a rubber cushion style.

I would use the new one from CIH.

There were things upgraded from the first production models. the woodruff key was made longer with steps to keep the key from sliding out of place while installing the pulley. If it comes out of place it will crack the new damper pulley. There was a thin sealing washer added between the pulley and the oil pump to keep oil from leaking between the crankshaft and pulley. There was a plate added to the front to keep dirt from being blown back into the seal by the fan.

i wouldnt waste money buying the overpriced ih one. we get ours through a aftermarket vendor. Toms Agri diesel they retail for about $275-300 bucks. we have bought several over the years, but stay away from the A&I ones, the seal wear sleave is differant and you cant replace them.
