Super C plowing

This is a picture on my Dad plowing on my Super C.

I finally got it 95% mechanically restored and everything works. I still have a few leaks to chase down and fix. Once that is done I'll take it all back down and paint it.

It was a scavenger hunt, fun, trying to find all the miscellaneous pieces and parts to get the C20 plow specific fast hitch components gathered up.

The plow seems to be running on its nose. Level it up and it will pull about half as hard. Nice rig. I plowed many acres on a Super C back in the late 50s & early 60s.

super c and C20 plow- just what i learned to plow with many moons ago. dad used the 300 and 311 plow and i brought up the rear with the super c.

Thanks I 'll do that.

My inexperience is showing :) Another issue is we are expanding the garden and breaking sod in a pasture that hasn't been plowed in at least 20 years. This ground is terribly hard. It's not pretty but it did get done.

We used an 8N back in the day. Super C is sure a lot nicer.

I used to have a 200 with the fast hitch and i doubt a handyer tractor was ever built?? There was a rod that was the anchor for the front of the hitch or you could attach it to your touch control to level on the go! Bud.

LOL I've plowed with both a Super C and the 8N plus a CA Allis Chalmers. I like the Ford much better for plowing. But then I've never been a fan of the NF tractors. If the plow is set up right they all plow good.

Cool pictures!

I have also plowed many acres with an 8N and a straight C years ago (still own both tractors), and plowing was a strong point of the N tractors, but dad and I plowed one field using both tractors - me on the C and dad on the N, and I could plow in 3rd pulling 2 14's and out run him on the N. I will admit it was a load for the C, and probably could not pull it under different soil conditions, but the tractor was on a fresh engine, and running well at the time. Normally we pulled the plow in 2nd with both tractors, however with me being about 13 or so at the time was trying to prove something then. Must not have hurt it, as it still runs pretty well and I am 51 now. I am betting it will outlive me as well.

Been there and done that!!
Dad bought a new SC with a F-H 2x14" plow, 7' disk and other F-H equipment in March of '56 (left over new from '54). 1956 thru '58, it was all we had to farm 100 acres, with 20 -25 acres to plow, disk and plant to corn, and I did the field work while Dad worked off the farm. Then in the fall of '58 he added a bigger tractor and corn picker (JD 60/227) and we added more land and a 3x14" plow and 10' disk in '59 and '60 until I left home for the service in Jan. '61. Still plowed with the SC when both of us were home.
I thought when properly set up, it did a fine job of plowing. It was handy to be able to do all the plow adjusting from the seat with the Touch-Control.

Dean, those fenders look different than most I have seen on C, and SC tractors. Or is it my imagination? Then again, in this area not many even had fenders on them, and my C doesn't have them.

Fenders are off of a 240. Bolt right up and make a better arm rest.
This is a reconditioned tractor with some custom touches. That
aluminum box mounted to the touch control bracket houses the
gauges.
