Hey guys,

While blowing snow today, my 766 started having problems finding R and L. I'm sure it's probably in the shift linkage, and have long thought about installing some of the parts from IH disgusted. Does anyone have experience with these parts? I'm sortof a newbie to IH tractors, and am not too sure who to talk to about help adjusting linkages, any suggestions for Eastern ND? Thanks everyone!!

Though I have not done it There has been mention of replacing the weak ball and socket joints with heim style fastners. With replacement of bushings and good adjustment they should shift well. Jim

Give Scott Punton a call. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. Can get or find just about any part you might need.

I buy all my parts from him as no one around me wants to sell parts for my old tractors...if your not there to buy a new one or have them service it for you they wont help you.

Jim and Matt, thanks! I know in my area (Finley/Cooperstown) we don't have a local implement dealer for MILES! There's Cooper implement in Cooperstown, but they sell the Green stuff. As for CIH dealers, Titan is creeping up on our south and Uglem Ness is the last privately owned dealer and that's in Northwood. All fine except most of the older people who would know their way around my 766 don't work there anymore. I'll try giving Scott a call, Thanks again!!!

vauge shiftig is a common problem with the 66 series. its ussually a pin that has worked its way out just above the tranny. take off the cover off of the steering column by your feet. you will see a shaft and a couple of claws that interact with the park brake. there is a pin in there that will break or work out.
