freeing up stuck engine

Got a cat 10. Engine is stuck. Want to try to free it up pulling plugs and soaking it. What are some of the best fluids to use.

Fallon, I have used 50% AFT and Acitone. Or ATF with PB. If it is dry stuck it will work in a week or two.
If it is water damaged It's more difficult. Most times you have to pull head and pan remove rod caps. Than smack the pistons with a block of wood. You should pull pistons and clean rings anyway. oldiron29

(quoted from post at 09:42:46 12/28/10) Kroil from Kano Labs
Only available mail order, google it.

Kroil is available in most gun shops these days, since people found it's a great gun cleaner. It's one of the best products of it's type out there.

In our area some HVAC and industrial supply houses sell it also. It is tough to beat the mail order when they do the 2 for 1 trial deals!!!

(quoted from post at 18:14:50 12/29/10) i read one time to use orange soda pop not sure if it works but may be worth a try

Coke will really do a number on rust as well.

The most popular I have read on the forum are ATF/HyTran, diesel fuel, or your _____ penetrating oil.

Anything but WD-40. It's lubricating/penetrant properties are so far down the list, they're almost not worth mentioning.

This is a Catepillar TEN:

It's a 10HP crawler tractor.

Whatever you use, TIME is the most effective tool.

Don't expect miracles; you're not going to shoot some PB Blaster in the spark plug holes, huff on the crank, and break the engine loose in 5 minutes.

Also, don't hook an 806 to the front and try to break the engine loose after it's been soaking for a month... I speak from experience.
