Good morning guys, I have a fairly simple question about my 656 Hydro. The hydro and PTO are getting weak and I suspect will go out one of these days. It's a pretty nice tractor otherwise and I hate to junk it out. I was talking to a mechanic at a local dealer about the cost of replacing both and I mentioned that I knew where I could get another 656 Hydro with a good rebuilt hydro probably for less than the cost of a rebuilt hydro and was considering buying it and parting it out. He suggested just splitting both tractors and swapping the back halves which he thought would save a tremendous amount of work and cost but he had never tried that and when I told him my hydro was a gas and the other one was a diesel he said he thought that would make no difference but wasn't sure. I like that idea because the other hydro has a factory 3 point and mine doesn't. All I would need to do after the swap would be to put my good tires on the other hydro back end and I could drive away both machines. It would sure make it easier to get them home because I could drive them on the trailer instead of having to rebuild the other hydro if we split them just to swap the hydros and PTO's. What do you think, is there an problems swapping back ends from a gas to a diesel? If I did that where would be the best place to advertise the hydro I want to part out? It's got a clean Schwartz front end and the diesel runs good but the owner doesn't know how many actual hours it has on it. Thanks. tlk
