Where might I find a good used and clean starting tank for a Farmall Super A tractor?? It is the smaller 1 gallon tank mounted to the side of the engine. Also, what would I expect to pay for one? THANKS>

Those are pretty hard to find. They do show up on Ebay once and a while, but they are pricey. Making one might be easier. Jim

Yea, I've noticed that since I've bought 14 Super A's within the last 8 months and NONE of them had the tanks that were supposed to. Since I've been alive (I'm 26), I've never seen a Farmall that we've bought have one. My grandfather said a long time ago he would buy tractors that had them and just throw them away since noone used them and when they'd work on the tractor; they'd take em off and throw em away. He said only if he would have thought about them from a collectors standpoint he wouldn't have done that......but who really did? He did say that there might be some of those tanks in the shop up on the top shelf waaayy up high (thats where all the used parts, junk, etc. are thrown to store out of the way in case we need them later). I guess it might be worth a look to see. I'm wanting one to use as a temporary gas tank while working on a tractor; and also want one to "complete" a nice Super A I've re-done. I just wish I had all of the ones he said he's taken off over the years. I wonder what they'll bring cause if I find more than 1 of them up there, I might sell it. I hope there is at least 1 of them though. haha. THANKS>

Place a wanted add on the yt site would be your best chance of finding one. There isnt that many around as the SA came out when the distillate fuel was dying and not many were ever built.

Pretty sure the one on the photo ads was not for a Super A. Tanks for the B are more common and there was no worry about the hydraulic lines conflicting. He had advertised it as fitting all (cncluding the SA) but my experience is that there is a difference and one does not fit all.

Thanks guys. If I recall, I think I might have seen one on there for around $200 last spring; but I'm not sure. Its funny you said not many were built on the Super A, but I've managed to have 13 out of 14 Super A's this year with the place in the hood for the tank (just no tank). When it warms up and we get the tractor out of the shop out of the way I might get up on the top shelf and see whats all up there!! Never know what I'll find.
