High Compression Head Information

Does anyone happen to know any kind of data regarding a high compression head that is on a Super C engine. I have a Farmall A that has been converted to a Super A by the use of a Super C engine and torque tube. The head on the engine is a high compression per the serial number suffix on the engine block.

I am looking for info such as Horsepower, etc. for this particular tractor set up the way it is. It also has the Zenith Carburetor if that makes a difference. THANKS>

It would be a normal Super C, ie approx 24hp or so. The only other option you could have goten would have been a distilate head, low compression. Now that is refering to the heads. You could also have high comprssion (high alt.) pistons from factory, if the engine was to opperate over 5000 feet it could have been ordered with high alt pistons. If you can look in the spark plug hole you maybe able to see the dome.

However keep in mind over the years, fire crater or other high dome pistons could have been added.

Here is the link to the original thread where it talks about the tractor having the high compression engine. THANKS>

Yeah, I think that's what it was.....high compression pistons for a higher altitude. Will that make a difference in power cause it sure sounds like a BEAST!!

Yes, you will gain a few, if they are just the stock size Super C piston, 3 1/8" but are domed, you could have around 26hp or so at sea level. If they are oversized they you could have 27hp or more if there is any other work done to it.

Do a compression test to see what you have

They just did a compression test on it the other day. I will check and see what the results were and get back with you. THANKS>

I found out that it had around 120 to 130 psi compression.
