460 hydraulics

Wanting to get rid of all the hydraulics on a farmall 460 EXCEPT the power steering. I have already removed all the controls and valves. My question is, can I block the cast upright where the spool valves bolted on and make that work, or will the pump not drain back into the system causing the pump to be in a bind. I thought about trying to just route the pressure line to the belt pulley delete cover and dump it in there. Please let me know your ideas. Thank you in advance.

I do not know why that would not work................I believe the power steering is separate (same oil). Do you want to sell your hydraulic block? My email is open.

If you take the idler gear out of the hydraulic pump then the only return oil you will have will be the power steering. You could remove the hose from the side of tractor and block it off there.

(quoted from post at 15:18:28 12/21/10) With all the trouble sealing and getting the hyd system primed would you still move enough oil?? Bud.

Since he wants to eliminate the hydraulic system the amount of oil he wants to move is none. Removing the idler gear from pump will accomplish that.
