1486 Hyd issue

We have a 1486 that continues to blow an O ring that results in losing almost all hydraulic power in the levers. Once it is replaced, hydraulics work fine. But it does not take much use for it to fail. The O ring is located after the pump. Anyone have suggestion of why this would be occuring?

Thanks in advance.

I"m not real familiar with the 86 series hydraulics but it sounds to me like you have a pressure relief valve thats not working and letting the system over pressurize and blow the o-ring. Hopefully someone else on here will have a more definitive answer for you.

Without knowing which type system (they had 2 by serial number), common orings dont last, go to dealer & ask for class 6/7/8 higrade orings, also ask for a back-up washer/ring for that same oring, put it in after the pressure & flow to brace the oring. If no dealers go to hydraulic repair shop, if they dont understand find a different one.

There were a few 86 series that the port did not align properly. On these you would need to machine the counterbore slightly larger diameter and use a different o-ring. We also used teflon rings to get a better more durable seal on problem tractors.
