Hi, need help for a friend. He's repainting a 1950 Farmall Super A, Anniversary edition. I guess the tinwork is white, but he's wondering if there's a certain shade he needs to use. Thanks for any info.
 
White Super A's were built Jan-March 1950, serials 281269-285298. All serials may or may not have been white. Only "proof" is if the serial matches AND you can find white under the red. The white was a truck color, whitecap white, I do not know the code. You are the first to use the term "Anniversary Edition". IH did not use that term, just painted them that color to get attention and help sell tractors. IH may have called them mid-century or something like that, though.
 
Have been seeing 50 Ms models on flea bay that are white demos. I don't remember ever a demo M. Did IH do the whole letter series being built in 50 in demo paint colors?
 
H's and M's were NOT part of the white demo promotion by IH. HOWEVER, some DEALERS painted select H's and M's white in 1950 to blend in with the factory promotion. Bu it was a DEALER thing, and not a FACTORY thing.
 
I've got a friend that's restoring his Great Grandfather's Farmall Regular that came from the district warehouse painted white back around 1925/26. The dealership repainted the tractor before selling it, and took off the fenders which went with it. The fenders still have traces of the original white paint and pinstripping. He's hoping to have it ready by next June.

Make sure he takes lots of pics where there is a trace of white.
