John Deere's chinese $50 million dollar plant

I see over on the Deere board there talking about john deere building a $50 million dollar plant in china. Wonder how many jobs will that cost us. You know, I bet you will still have to pay the same dollar amount for the same tractor after it's made in china. The company and fat ceo's will be getting richer and we will be getting cheaper chineese sh**! Wonder if the loyal deere people will continue to buy chinese deere tractor and combines. Wonder if CIH will be next?

Let the JD people handle it, there have been too many rant things on this forum lately that just take up space.

There's an interesting perspective on China in this month's Esquire magazine. I just read it today, and it made me feel better.

I'm tired of people ripping on Deere about doing business in another country. Most likely this is a plant to make cheap tractors specifically for the Chinese market. The Chinese market is one of the biggest future growth markets in the world. It only makes good sense for Deere to be in that market.

I listed a ton of US factories that Deere has in one of the threads in the Tractor Talk forum. They still employ over 30,000 in the US. No one likes to see factories close and move to Mexico or China, but if Deere does not make good business decisions they won't be around to keep those 30,000 employed.

I don't think $50 million would build a very large facility, even in China... probably just building parts for something already built in Japan.

WHAT did it cost in jobs when IH went teats up from FAILING to keep on top of things?

Deere already has a major facility in India. The bottom line is they buy alot more tractors than we do in the US. China is next with over a billion in population they will catch up and surpass us as we have already developed the technology for them over the last 100 years. What took us 100 years they will do in as little as 20-30 if not faster.

The American auto worker demands/extorts $24/hr base pay. The Mexican worker will do the same jopb for $7, the Chinese & Indian worker will do the same work for $1/hour. Mexican/Chinese/Indian guy will have a great attitude and probably put out a better product because he is excited about his job and thinks it's great. American working thinks business is evil and he's getting screwed.

It's time for us to stop complaining and go back to work innovating the next level of technology.

Company I retired from sent assembly to Mexico shortly after I retired (no connection  ).
They have trouble keeping help because as soon as they get trained in the "American way" of doing things, they move on to a higher paying job with another company in the same "industrial zone"... GM, Ford, etc. This is [u:ab6c29231b]sure a great attitude and really makes for a quality product [/u:ab6c29231b]with new hires constantly being trained while assembling parts (sarcasm does not always come across in print, so take it as that).

Case New Holland as it is called now is owned by Fiat. The name CaseIH is still in use. New Holland aquired Ford before Fiat took over the whole thing.

Thanks, didn't want to take the time to explain that this afternoon when I saw the CIH.
