Farmall 350 Tachometer

The tachometer on my Farmall 350 doesn't work. The cable seems to be okay. I took the tachometer off and put a drill to it and it moves. Where else should I look to see what is causing my problem? Was there any common problems with these tachometers?

Not a common problem, just age. There are companies that rebuild them, Bates Corp for one, you might call them, although I have read they no longer do it. New tachometers are available, and cheaper than a rebuild. Whether they are exact copies, and whether the ground speed matches the rpm exactly I don't know. But your problem sounds like it might be in the distributer drive, which should be fixable.

I don"t know for sure about the 350 but my 504 did the same thing and it has a plastic gear inside the distributor gear drive that had gotten a flat spot on it and was stuck in that spot. Worked fine after I replaced the gear.
