By all means...dive right in. I have to admire your energy. Those pictures would have to be at least a week apart if it were me. Maybe not. I do go faster taking em down than I do putting em back together.

Dave, that was about four days work, I just happened to download the pics out of my phone last night so I could post. Now the tractor is down to just an engine, tranny and rearend. Hopefully I"ll get to do some priming this afternoon. I"ll post some more pics as I go.

What is your secret for removing the crud, grime and other stuff which is typically encountered doing a good re-paint or restoration? I certainly couldn't move that quick with the various solvents and wire brushing to get everything super clean. We sandblasted what could be removed from the tractor and done away from the remaining chassis so that was fairly quick. Just looking for your quick clean and prepare to paint approach, Hal.

I just did a Cub that was a mower tractor for it's entire life and dripped every fluid possible from every place possible...get the picture? Filthy!

(1) Power Wash. (2)An old wire wheel in a drill over every inch of the tractor. (3) Power Wash (4) Remove everything you can (5) Power wash (6) Again with the old wheel (7) Yet another power wash (8) New wire wheel to remove paint and rust. Electolysis on some parts. Others went to the blaster. (9) Lacquer thinner in the sprayer and wash the whole thing down with it. (10) Oil and grease remover in the sprayer. (11) Paint.

Probably missed a few steps. Took literaly months to accomplish. Looks killer.

Dave, thanks for sharing. I did a lot of the same and I used oven cleaner from the Dollar Store which worked good as well to get at the grease. I like the acetone in a sprayer also but bet it really eat up the seals and I used the brush it on wipe it down method. Certainly takes a lot of time to get it clean and that is what I was surprised about when you mentioned you would be ready for primer this quick. Send your email (my email is open) and I'll share some pictures of how my Super C restoration turned out. Good luck and enjoy your project as a C or SC is a nice tractor to work with, Hal.

I didn"t get to do any priming today as I keep finding dirt and grease that I have missed but I think I finally got it all today. This will be the 7th time I have pressure washed this thing with the steam cleaner. I have lately been using Engine Brite Gel Degreaser and soaking the whole tractor for at least a day and this seems to work really well. I"ll get a few more pics on later tonight for you guys. Thanks, Tony
