Dropped the oil pan

Hey guys,

I dropped the oil pan on my super a and was wondering what to look for to determine if the sleeves and o rings look good? It seemed that at the bottom of the sleeves, there was some rubber material almost silicone like around the edge of the sleeve. Is that a sign of a previous rebuild?

Thanks,

Cole

most likely. if you have no coolant in oil why not just do a compression check? then the next step is pull head. your starting at wrong end of the horse.

I just dropped the oil pan to clean any sludge out and decided to look at the sleeves. I am not interested in pulling the head if i dont have to.
Runs fine and doesnt smoke.

with one piston at TDC look at the wall of the sleeve. See if there is a ridge where the rings stop. A compression test will also tell you what shape your rings are in.

As long as you have the pan off, you could check the main and rod bearings with a little plastigage.
