can you put flat top fenders on a 460?

Just wonderind if anyone has put flat top fenders from say the 06 or 56 series on a 460? do that make a modification plate or something to atach to the 460 or would they mount right up to the axel? thanks in advance!

I can tell you for a fact that it can be done.

My grandfather's 460 row-crop has always had flat-top fenders on it (to my memory anyway, I'm 33).

I'm not sure what they came off of or how they were mounted but they look pretty good, IMHO. Of course, I don't remember anything else ever being on his tractor either.

If I can find a picture I'll scan it and post it.

Well you should be able to put flat top fenders on a 460 they look like they have the same axle as the 504 or the 656 but its not going to look original.

If you can find fenders off a 656 they should bolt right on.

However, the fenders off larger 06/56 series have HEX axles, so you'd have to use some creativity to mount fenders from these tractors.

IMHO, flat top fenders look D-U-M-B on older tractors but that's just my opinion. If you're happy with the look, I'm happy for you. It's just not my cup of tea.

Flat top fenders are designed for tractors with seats mounted further forward on the tractor.

Hi Matt...I put flat top fenders (not sure what model they were from) on to a Farmall 340. I did have to make a modification plate so that the fenders could be bolted down at a spot on the axle that would clear the tires. My modification plate looked a lot like the "extension plate" sold for use with many of the flat top fenders.

As mentioned by others, Farmall 656 flat top fenders will bolt up with no modifications, but, they sure will look out of place on a 460 IMHO.

You can mount about any fender as long as you make the brackets to do it. I mounted a set of flat tops on a Super M years ago for safety reasons. It was on a working tractor and was the best addition I ever put on it. Looked good too. Even the guy I sold it too later on liked them.

We have flats on a 560. Don't know which model they came off, but are bolted right on. We have an auxiliary hydraulic valve mounted on the right fender. Really like the set up.

Correct Police Dispatch Center:
"One Adam 12, One Adam 12, see the party in NEIA attempting to put flat top fenders on a tractor."

Friday: "Copy that. Joe and I are leaving the donut shop now."

Whirrrrr! Screeeeeeeeeeeeech!

"Hey fella, hold it right there. You almost caused us to spill our tea, errr, ah...coffee. You know something mister? The both of us think that looks pretty dumb! You know folks are gonna talk don't ya."

Then I guess that putting a set of fenders from a John Deere 730 on a Farmall M would get you sent straight to Gitmo? One of my neighbors did that several years ago and I thought it looked pretty good. It looked even better after he painted the fenders Farmall red.

thanks to those who helped, i could care less if it does not look origional as this is a working tractor not a parade tractor, i've never liked the lights on the 460 so close to the paneling that they give very minimal light in todays standards so the flat top fenders with dual lights will fix that problem for me, i'm also planning on putting on a hazard light on each fender for more safety, i'll be looking for a pair of 656 fenders thanks to all who helped again

I put a set of JD fenders on my M. They were new aftermarket for a 4020, Painted them and made brackets from 5x 3.5 angle and 1/4" plate. 1/2 x 1 1/2 cap screws into top of axel housing

And they look GOOD, don't they.

I put Massey fenders on my M. Not correct, but I like the looks. The tractor only has to make one person happy, so if you like it....I love it!!!
