Working on the shifters on my 856 today going to try to get the slop out of them I noticed there is a clevis pin at the bottom of the shaft and tube that goes down to the speed transmission.Should that pin be a roll pin instead ? I ve looked in the parts book and it doesn t show it with the cover or the shifter shafts. If anyone has a part # or size and type of pin it would help. Thanks

Those parts are shown in the controls section of the parts book. The pin is a grooved pin, 1/4" X 1 1/4". Part number 142521.

The original is a groove pin but when the pin and the hole gets worn the pin works its way out. Keep your clevis pin or a bolt or put a hose clamp around the tube over the holes where the pin is to keep the pin in place.

I like to drill them out just a little bit and put in two roll pins, one inside the other and then a wire through to keep it in place. On another note , you need good quality roll pins as I had some chinese ones that are brittle and break up when trying to drive that second one in as you want a real tight fit.
