Farmall super a Head gasket

Hey guys,

I just bought a super a and noticed that when its running, it weeps anti-freeze out of the head gasket area. Its not a bad leak but drips then stops when it warms up. There is no antifreeze in the oil so i dont know what to think. Bad head gasket?

Thanks,

Cole

I just hope it isnt anything internal. It runs like a top and doesnt smoke. Could it be form the cold weather? It shrivled up the gasket?

Maybe. That's a good point since the gaskets metal. As long as it stops I'd leave it alone until it gets back around to summer and see if it still leaks. Remember to check your oil and antifreeze OFTEN though if you leave it be. If they start leaking into eachother you should probly replace it. It's not a real hard job to do

No use to give up too easily and tear it apart just yet!

Warm it up and retorque it, let it cool, then warm it up and torque it AGAIN.

IMPORTANT...Set the valves.

The only other thing that it might be is the top of the block or the head is slightly warped buuuttt one would think that it would leak all the time then. I would start by checking the torque values on the head to make sur one isn't a little loose then proceed to replace the gasket if it continues

This might be a stupid question but did you check to see if there was oil in the radiator? When my gasket went bad in my A, I saw oil in the radiator not water in the oil. ROn
