Did the 400 diesel come with powersteering or was it an option?thanks in advance..

Tom, Looking at the pic of the tractor I suspect you are contemplating, There are no hoses where you usually see them if a 400 has power steering.

IH didn't offer it as a attachment until 1956. Was not considered standard equipment. If the power steering was factory installed the tractor was made in the last 3 or 4 months of 400 production. If the tractor is a farmall. Not uncommon to find the attachment installed on earlier 400D though.

Looked in my notebook, I was off on the months. Chassis serial # for first built factory farmall 400 with PS. I think was 33504.
