ih 300 utility carberator problems

I have a 1956 IH 300 utility. i just received this tractor, it had been sitting outside for a couple of years. I cleaned the carborator completly, it has decent spark. When i try to start it, it will fire for a short time if i use starting fluid with full choke, then stalls after it burns all of the starting fluid. it appers that it is getting gas because gas drips out of the carb. float appers to be working correctly and all the jets are clean. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did it start before you cleaned carb.
Is it turning over fast enough.
Try starting with air filter disconnected.
Remove main jet and blow it out of with small wire.
Sitting could be low compression. Pull it to start and let it run for awhile it may bring itself back.

No we haven't had it start yet, yes it turns over very fast (new battery & had starter rebuilt) air filter is disconnected, have cleaned carb completely including main jet. I was questioning compression, doesn't seem to be to bad. have not pulled it yet but have added mistery oil to top of pistons to help loosen rings if stuck, figure it can't hurt.

Because it runs on fluid and drips gas makes me think you keep getting debris in the main jet.
I am a believer in inline gas filters. I have them on everything and they come on new tractors with gravity feed systems. Make sure you buy one for gravity feed systems.
If you can get it to start on fluid, when it starts to stall give it a little quick shot again in the carb intake, see if you can keep it going and maybe it will right itself.
I still think it is dirt somewhere.
