The Farmall 300 tractor pictured in the post some days back with whats called a transmission driven PTO. I made the commented about never seeing a transmission driven PTO housing with a flange for mounting a rear belt pulley gear box.
With the bad weather and no work today last night I did some research. IH did offer that PTO attachment for a 300 utility. PTO housing # 364706R1. Attachment was first installed at the factory on Utility tractor 16004, 11-11-55.
I learned something new to me.

Interesting , Thanks.

I thought I had an ipto. With the tractor running you can pull up on the lever, in neutral with clutch engaged, and the PTO will come on. Very smooth with no noise. Does "transmission driven pto" mean it will stop when the clutch pedal is pressed in like my SH. I'll have to go play with it and see.

put the pto under load and try engaging with the clutch down. It might not do anything. It's normal for some transmission ptos creep (spin with clutch down) due to unavoidable friction between moving parts. try shifting gears with the clutch down too. You may find some undesirable friction is occuring if you have difficulty shifting from neutral to a gear--then the problem is the pilot bushing/bearing.
