How many different cab styles were available for the 1206 and related tractors? I cant seem to locate the one I have on the tractor I just acquired. I am attaching some pics of the one I have. Thanks, LarryT

None were available from the factory. They were all put on after.

I can think of a few- Cozy, Year Around, Hiniker and maybe one called Exel.

Yours is the first I haver seen of that style.

I had one like that on a 806. It was like sitting in a drum so i took it off. Been way too many years and I do not remember who made it.

IIRC, IH offered the 1206 with the "ice cream box" cab as a factory option. I know a lot of the 12s sold new in this area had that cab. I've also seen a lot of sales brouchres that showed the 12s with that cab as well. We bought a new 656 in 1967 with the ice cream box cab so they were available during that time period

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time

IH did offer the "ice cream box" cab on the 706-806-1206. These were factory installed at Farmall and were built for IH by Stolper-Allen Company of Milwaukee, WI. S-A also built cabs for CASE tractors.

It was a very modern cab at the time. They even had A/C availble on them!!!

Sherburn cabs were sold during the '06 era. We had one on the 806 & then put it on the 856. Dad thought it was the best thing since sliced cheese. Of course, he only ran it in the fall during cold weather. I got to plow, disc, & do all the hot weather jobs in it. You could bake bread in the thing in June during field work. They were NOISY with a capital N.

Thanks Ken, I thought for a minute I might be "losing it".......LOL. Ours didn't have the AC option but I was sure thankful for the heater in the late fall & winter. Once it warmed up in the spring the door & right side window would come off and later I got to where I would take the cab off, just leaving the platform on the tractor during the summer.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your input. I noticed that a bunch of you said they were very noisy but this one is extremely quiet. It is foam lined with acoustical foam rubber and all the windows open fully other than the the little ones down by your feet. I would say its as quiet as the new John Deere cabs. It also has a filtered blower that will flat muss your hair. The one thing I have noticed is the poor fit of the PTO control. They put a pull handle on the inside behind the seat and with my bad shoulders I can't hardly operate it but for me that is an easy fix and The way I am going to do it will make it easier than the factory original anyway. I will post up more pics as I redo this old gal. I am also going to add fenders to keep the law off my back. Won't get much done till after February as I have a total knee replacement scheduled for mid January. Thanks again, LarryT

Thanks for all the help folks. It is a Stopler Allen Co. made for International Harvester from 1965- about 1969 or so. It was actually owned buy IH. It was factory installed. Ordered as an option. It was originally well sealed and the large volume electric fan that is mounted on top in the right rear corner also had an activated charcoal filter so that you could use it for spraying pesticides without all the protective garb that was required otherwise. Quite ingenious. I am now researching to see if any of those filters are still around so I can use this comfortably in the orchards and corn fields out here. Thanks again. LarryT
