block heater for M

Hi All , I was wondering what kind of block heater was ever offered for a new Farmall tractor if any. I can't find one offered in either of my original parts books so I wonder if that's the final answer?

As I remember the block heaters didn't start selling to about 1950-more or less. Tractors didn't come from factory with block heaters.

Hey Thanks ! Hope you are a little warmer than we are here . Gonna hit -14F tonight with wind about 40mph and wind chills approaching 40 below .

I have a very old block heater on my M so that's why I was wondering. Not sure if it works but I'm gonna see tonight lol .

Do you have a coolant heater or an oil heater? They are both effective and can be added to an M rather easily.

Well ...It's a coolant heater . I just went out there and found that it's working . I've had the M for for years but never needed to use it during the winter months. But this year since I'm now unemployed I'm cleaning the acreage up and have been cutting trees and dragging them with the M to the burn pile. Lotta snow last night and high wind so I won't get back to that for a few days I guess.

Kats brand of head bolt heaters were available in the 50's. You removed one headbolt and replaced with the heater style bolt. Worked very well.

I think that may be what it is . Because I've never used it before this year and never paid attention I wasn't sure how it was attached . But on closer inspection with out taking the hood off it, I see that the power cord does in fact go up to the top of the engine and it was percolating loudly in sub-zero temps the other day . Thanks!
