IH colors in spray cans

I need a single spray can of the IH Implement "cream" color.

Either a genuine IH color number, or an over-the-counter color that's close (perhaps Rustoleum).

Suggestions/sources?

I know you probably know it, but when I was buying paint for the Cub one option was to have it loaded in a rattle can. Too expensive for a whole tractor IMHO, but you can go to a dealer like PPG with what you want, have it matched, and then get it loaded in a can.

I've not been able to find the "IH" white in a rattle can anywhere but at the local Case-IH dealer, BUT, I can find the CASE "power white" in a rattle can at any farm store, and it is almost a perfect match. If you're painting wheels or rims, you'll never know the difference.

The color you want is in the link -- unfortunately it will not enlarge so that you can read it. I believe it is in the middle column 2nd from the top. The chart is old and faded so it is impossible to read unless you actually order the chart. The color you want was on the rear wheel of an HM 150 semi-mounted disk plow that my dad had in the 40's-50's. I really doubt if you are going to find the exact color code, much less a paint that matches exactly. So, the best thing to do is to look for something that you will be satisfied with -- I doubt if anyone will argue with you. The "correct" color is sort of a cross between cream and light yellow -- it is not even close to white. Also look in the paint section of the IH archives at Madison WI -- I can't find the link right now or I would post it. No promise that IH listed a code for it either, but you will find it referred to.

Hard to tell from the chart, but VS CML-0007 is not the color I remember, but the last time I saw it on our plow was about 1960, and I don't remember what I saw this morning, much less 50 years ago. In my mind, though, VanSickle is the worlds worst paint.

Well, this is for a model I'm painting, and the Correct Police don't come to my house anymore after that last unfortunate incident "8^)

Looks like some good suggestions, Thanks!

Scott Punton at A.P. Equipment in Valley City, ND can get you the original creme color in any quantity. Give him a call...800-400-2143

The fogbank that is my memory has some recollection of a discussion some time back where someone said that one of the more common purveyors of rattle cans has a standard color they call "Almond" that matches up pretty well.

Yes, kept inside it will last longer. Alkyd enamel has no UV (fade resistance) protection. I used a couple of spray cans of Van Sickle before I knew better. Takes a long time to dry or to wait for a second coat. CaseIH 2150 rattle cans have much better paint. Can't say if they have UV protection though. I think the quart and gallon cans do.

Scotty,
I tried almond (from a can) on my plow wheels a few yrs ago, and the minute I pulled the plow outside I knew it didn't look right to me. I now use IH 935 White...it has a cream look to it and comes the closest to this old man's memory (also a fog bank and getting foggier).
