Split at clutch on MD

When I split to replace the ring gear will I have to drop the hydraulic pump? I thought it would come apart at the coupler but the other voice in the shop says I will have to drop the hydraulic pump.

Split in front of the pump at the bellhousing, Not behind the pump at the transmission. Pump gets its power from the transmission so spliting behind the pump will not expose the clutch and ring gear/flywheel. Armand
