what color is the dash of a farmall 350 diesel supposed to be?? i was thinking black, but i am not sure. also are the starter and generator black also?? thanks
 
Hi jcwag: Well, I have two 1957 350 Farmall row crops and the dash on both of them is Red...
One does NOT look like it ever got painted and the other got a "do-it-and-use-it" paint job so take my report with no warrenty. My 1956 300 looks like it was never repainted and it has a red dash. Post a picture of your 350 after you get it painted.. OK? ag. ret.
 
jcwag.. oops.. I didn't catch the work diesel in your post.. Both of mine are gas.. I tend to take note of all the diesel 350's I see and I do not recall any with black dash.. for what it's worth.. Black might look nice tho. ag..
 
300 dashes are black and the 350 dashes are a gray color. You can get it from a case IH dealer. Same for the 400 and the 450. There is a book call FARMALL number series by Guy Fay and Andy Kraushaar. It will show the colors. Hope this helps.
 
What color the dashes were is like asking who has the best food. Going to get a lot of different answers. some say a sort gun metal gray on a 300 and satin black on a 350. Some say the satin black wasn't used until the 60 series in 1960. All I know is that most ever dash I took out has grey under the gauge lips and grey up on top where the light is unless the cover was removed before a repaint. Have had them with repaints in red, grey and black and also rusty ones. Last I heard Guy Fay and Ken Updike disagree on the 50 series color.
 
Think I remember he said satin black in his hundred series book. He answered a post this site once and said satin black. Don't claim to know the correct answer myself. Have a good night.
 
Original color is similar to gun metal gray. You can get the original color from Scott Punton at A.P. Equipment in Valley City, ND (800-400-2143)He also has the cream color for under the dash light cover.
 
Hi 400D tractorman: I think the trouble is that it has been 50+ years since the 300/350 were build ..and there are too many spray cans of Red paint sold to the owners of these IHC tractors during the last 50+ years...
I saw a little bit of grayish black on the bottom left side of my dash on my 300 loader snow plowing tractor today.. Gotta buy a spray can of black now.. :-D ..ag
 
don't go to the store to fast. I just talked with an old friend this eve. I know the 350's were a grey color because there was a new one on the farm and it had the grey dash. My friend said he had a new 300 and a 350D on his farm and they both were grey. I have another friend and will try and talk to him soon. I have a 400D that I will look at tomorrow. Its orginal and I'm not sure about the dash but will look tomorrow. My friend is telling me that they didn't start using the black until they changed the pto on the 560 which is 1959. I have a 58 560D but I think the dash was repainted will have to look at that also.
