I would like to know what year this Farmall M was made. The serial number is FBK 286722x1? Also the emblem on the side of the hood is a metal M is this orginal, because all I see in pictures are the white M with a circle around it?

That is not original someone made that sure isnt factory. That isnt even the M hood as they didnt have a sign like that nor the letters. Same old story you can come up with all sorts of stuff not original.

It is not original for the M. The hood is correct but the metal farmall and the M are not, but I would leave it because it looks sharp IMO. Bob
 
The chrome letters sure arent original the hood mite have been altered to fit or just got the letters off a later model tractor and put them on. Cant tell from the pics you will need to take the hood to someone who has the original then compare to see if yours has been altered to fit a M.
 
Farmall emblem is for a 300 to 450 tractor. The M is probably a letter you could get from some hardware store to use for a home address or other use. Tractor was built in 11-51. Some would say its a 52 since IH run there fiscal year from November to November. Most serial lists are for the actual year. I just use the actual year built when talking about them.
 
Is that a hole on this side of the hood, right above the first "L" on Farmall, and is it a circle or cut? It looks to me like it may ne an MD hood. maybe......
 
my some people are easy to fool.those letters even look goofy on there. its just as d slater says, they come off another tractor. goes to show who knows their ihc stuff.
 
Is that a live hydrolic pump on the engine? Is it also connected to the belly pump? Is it a retro fit that is using the engine pump but the belly reservoir??
