Is there any way to change an oil bath air cleaner on a farmall M to a dry filter setup

Yes sir, Go to the local auto zone or advanced auto parts and pick up one of those ricer cold air intake kits .... or piece together your own for you carb intake size

LN,
Thanks for bringing this up. It's an interesting topic that is not often talked about on this forum.
I am one of those that do not change the oil bath as often as recommended - like almost never.
I'd like to know if this conversion is one of those things that a lot of operators do or just a few.
Are the conversions as forgiving as oil bath or are they like most paper filters that if you don't change them they become clogged and inoperable.

Thanks,
Dell

The oil that is in the cup will eventually become so laden with dirt that it is no longer liquid, and will not absorb any more dirt. When this happens, intake air cannot flow freely through it, and the engine will begin using way more fuel than it should, and eventually will refuse to even run because it cannot get any air. The oil bath air filter should be cleaned and serviced everytime the engine oil and filter is changed. The beauty of an oil bath is that it costs less to service and refill with fresh oil than what it costs to replace a dry, paper filter.

Thats why the bottom comes off easy when we used them every day sometimes i would chang the oil even between oil changes and always changed the oil when the crankcase oil was changed maybe thats why we never had any engine failures I even put water in the jar when picking corn and you would be surpised how dirty it could get. Theres a reason they had the precleaner on them.
