having problem with the starter replaced with new good 2 guage cables new starter switch but i have cables hooked up to positve ground to starter negative to starter button from there to starter but hooked to a 12 volt battery is there a chance starter could have been rebuilt for a negative gound? starter does notturn over getting frusted! thanks for any help

Starter motors don't care about polarity....Can you do a load test on your battery ? Will it start with jumper cables ?

Those tractor starters, ARE NOT POLARITY SENSITIVE i.e. they still turn the same direction regardless of battery polarity. They are NOT made or rebuilt for Pos or Neg ground, all the same

To insure its the starter and NOT any switch problem, have you tried using a heavy jumper set to jump the starter direct??? Use caution thats a high current jump and Id make the last connection to iron at or near the starter and away from the battery.

The starter dirve gear isnt mechanically stuck/jammed is it??? If so she draws highhhhhhhhh current....If so she can be released by rocking the tractor in high gear or loosening the starter

Id still remove, clean n wire brush, n reattach each n every battery n staretr n switch n ground cable n see what happens.

If you use jumpers and run one cable to the starter post and the other to the starter iron frame, that can give an indication by eliminating starter switch and grounds and other cable connections. TRY THAT

You can always remove n clamp the starter in a vise and use a battery n jumpers n see what happens????????? If the battery is good she should spin fast n smooth n even, try that????

Sure the battery is good?? had it load tested??

If when you depress the starter switch the lights dim way down badly (voltage drops drastically) thats more a starter problem but if teh lights dont dim then it may be a starter switch or cable problem although it can still be the starter

Clean tight and bright on all connections???????? Also do you know for sure the starter is good?? Even new/rebuilt ones can be and are in fact bad. You might try taking a battery cable and go right from the battery to the starter to see if it will spin over. Be sure the tractor is out of gear if you do that
