Steering leak?

Got caught with my pants down today. Guess I got cocky and didn’t believe we would get this much snow out of this storm. The lake effect snow machine is cranking and we have about a foot and a half today and its still coming. Of course I didn’t have the chains or snowblower on the 574 yet as I was using it for other things.
I finally got things moved around and the blower on but then I noticed a major oil leak coming from the steering column area. I know its seeped there in the past but it was minor. It’s not minor anymore! I had to add oil to be able to use it to open up the driveway but it’s really a gusher leak now. I haven’t looked into it yet but know I’ve heard of problems with steering valve leaks on these. Is there a common problem that’s hopefully an easy fix? I plan on looking into it after dinner but the snows still pilling up!

Well I looked the problem over and it dont look good so far. It appears to have at least 2 leaks. One is the seal where the shaft comes out just under the steering wheel. That apparently is where my slow seeping leak was. The big gusher leak appears to be coming from the bottom end plate of the pump. Doubt there is an easy fix for that. Looks like a major job to remove that pump. Damn!
