Cracked Block In Farmall B

My B has a cracked block. :( It goes horizontaly almost the whole length of the block and also another crack that goes vertically toward the head gasket. Is it even repairable? Or do I need a new one? Anyone have one who is near Minnesota?

Thanks,

Cole

I have junked more then one because of that type of problem. That said I have seen more then one that some one JB welded and it worked for a long time but to me that is a large boat anchor

Actually you may be able to have that block furnace welded, which if they can do it, it will be as good as new. Try asking Midwest Cylinder Head in Nevada Iowa. A and B blocks are getting a little hard to find. I know they can weld a cylinder head up good as new. I have had several rare or hard to find heads welded up there with great results. Hope this helps

Does the engine run alright otherwise, and are you concerned about how the engine looks?

If the engine is fine otherwise it is possible to bolt a patch over the crack. Fit a steel plate and gasket material over the crack and then drill and tap holes every couple of inched to fasten it to the block. There is a 340 around here that has been running like that for over 40 years.
