Bn Leaking fluids

One simple question I hope. My BN is leaking fluids around the gear shifter. Not a lot and it does shift great. Should I worry about replacing the gasket or not. If so where can I find that gasket? I tried Stiener Parts but found nothing. Thanks for your help

The only gasket I remember for that area is the cover gasket. Have you checked to see if it is overfilled? That would be my first action. Drain and measure the fluid. You are talking about a leak at the shift lever, right?

I have owned it for over a year never added Fluid. You are correct it is where the gear shift is bolted to the transmission.

Following up on what Dave said about measuring, if someone in the past drained it and then just refilled with the recommended five quarts (and another pint for the pto, it may be over full if there was a lot of sludge in there.

Try first draining what's in there down to the fil level plug. Get it on flat surfae and remove that plug, which is on the left side fot he tranny, left front corner. the brake rod will be a little in the way. Drain from that level check hole until it stops running. Then drain from the tranny drain at the rear, and measure what comes out the rear. The difference between what you get out and 5+ quarts is the volume of the sludge in there. Id significant, post back for all the ideas on how to clean the sludge out.

As for the gasket, CaseIHFordNH has it, or you can make one.
