Super C Carb problem?

I noticed that my SC would bog down and miss a little when I used the Hydraulics or if I let out on the clutch. Just idling it was running ok but not great. I cleaned the plugs rotor and rotor cap. That usually does it but this time it still is not running good. I idled it up and pulled the rod for the governor and it bogged down. I took off the gas bowl and cleaned the screen and bowl. I noticed that it would not fill up when I turned on the gas at the bowl. I took the bowl back off and turned the gas on and it flowed well. SO I put it all back together and took off the line at the carb. I turned the gas on and it flowed fast. I am thinking that something in the carb is not working and the gas flow is locking up. What do you think is the problem? Thanks Ron

The carb is the easiest location to start with, must likely the cause. Could have dirt and such blocking the float valve, or main jet. Clean well and try that.

Unless the carb leaks now, or you destroy the main gasket, you can many times just split clean and replace.

You could have a float or needle and seat wanting to stick. Usually they get stuck were the fuel won't shut off. Also many of those carbs had a small screen on the elbow where the fuel line goes in the carb. I have seen those plugged up. When you think you have it fixed pull the plug out of the bottom of the fuel bowl, turn on the gas and watch it run for a few minutes and make sure there is a steady stream.

Pull the main jet plug out of the side of the carb. Run a very small wire in and also blow some air in.
Don't forget to place a bucket under when checking flow.
