W-450 loaders

I recently got a w-450 with a loader that I'm planning on rebuilding, however I want to do away with the loader. Does anybody have any info on the loaders that were avaliable for these tractors? I looked and couldn't find any numbers or tags on it. Also, is there any market for the loaders? or would it be more worthwhile to scrap instead of sitting on it?

Loaders are fairly generic. That means they will fit many other tractors with the right brackets. Those mounting kits can be purchased, modified, or home-made. Post a picture and somebody may be able to ID it. Goto the mfg's website and look for mounting kits.

With that info, sell it on Craigslist. If it works, leave it on the tractor so a prospective buyer can see it in operation. It'll bring more money.

It might sell for $100-$200 as scrap. You should be able to get at least $500 if it works well. If it is late model with good paint and no repair welds, it will bring alot more.

It never hurts to try and market it. See if someone will bite.

There were some purpose-built aftermarket loaders for the Wheatland/Industrial tractors. Usually, from companies like Drott, Link-Belt, Lord... manufacturers of construction equipment.

The loader itself is probably pretty rare, but not particularly valuable.

You should be able to tell if the loader was designed for the tractor, or if it's been retrofitted. Factory brackets will have smooth edges, and the welds will be consistent.

Unless the fabricator went to a LOT of extra work to retrofit the loader, you'll find jagged, torch-cut edges on the mounting brackets, and uneven welds.

I tryed to post a couple pictures but the fourm wouldn't let me.

Looking over the loader, all the welds and brackets are factory. Tractor is a low hour unit that came from a city DPW auction and was sitting in a barn for years untouched till it was given to me, which leads me to believe it wasn't modified to fit the tractor. I can't run it to confirm operation of the loader since both the block and head are cracked, but it will go up and down when we spun the pump breifly.

Thanks again for the help
