Inter-changeable head?

Does anyone know if the engine head from my 1949 H will work on farmall 350 engine block? Or should I keep looking for a 350 head?

Thank you

I think there's two things that we'd need to know. What is the H head (standard gas, distillate etc) and what pistons do you have in the 350 block? If you're trying to build the engine for power then you're best off with the 350 head but if you just want it to run the H head might work. Sam

It will work, but if its a original 49 H head some 350 fire crater and raised top pistons will hit the head. If you have the tools and know how and also a 300 head to compare with the H head, the H combustion chamber edge can be blended to clear 350 fire crater pistons.
Most all the heads have a cast # under the valve cover. May be able to give a better answer with head numbers and piston type. If the H was a gas tractor it probably came with a 8043 DC head.
